The Native
Language Written Literacy
Project

Restoring written language dignity for health equity and digital inclusion

Project Progress

About the project

The Native Language Written Literacy Project is a coalition-led initiative to make native characters—like Ɔ and ↄ—readily accessible across default mobile and desktop keyboards. Starting with Twi, we’re restoring written language skills for 90M+ speakers globally, especially those navigating healthcare systems in the diaspora. This is about more than orthography—it’s about participation, safety, and digital dignity.

Why it matters

90M+ speakers affected

Impact

Written language is critical in healthcare, education, and civic life
